The Impact of Parental Anxiety on the Mental Health of Their Children (Selected Case Studies During the Israeli Aggression on Lebanon in 2024)

أثر قلق الوالدين على صحة أطفالهما النفسية
يعالج هذا البحث تأثير الحروب على صحة الأسر النفسية، ورفاهية الأطفال، تحديدًا في لبنان الذي لا يزال يشهد عقودًا من الحروب والصراعات، عانى خلالها الوالدان من صدمات نفسية مستمرة أثّرت على صحة أطفالهم النفسية، منها خلال العدوان الإسرائيلي في العام 2024 الذي أدى إلى نزوح نحو 1.2 مليون شخص من قراهم ومدنهم.
يبرز البحث تأثير الحرب على الصحة النفسية الأسرية، ولا سيما العلاقة بين الضيق النفسي للوالدين وزيادة مستويات القلق، والصعوبات الأكاديمية، والمشكلات السلوكية لدى الأطفال. وإذ يؤكد البحث الحاجة إلى تدخل المعنيين لدعم الآباء والأطفال المتضررين، يلحظ أن أعراض القلق والتوتر والاكتئاب لدى الوالدين، تزداد حدته بسبب عدم الاستقرار الناتج عن الحرب، ما يؤدي إلى التأثير المباشر على التطور العاطفي والمعرفي للأطفال، كما تؤدي الوصمة الاجتماعية المرتبطة بالصحة النفسية وصعوبة الوصول إلى الرعاية، إلى تفاقم المشكلة.

- Abstract: War significantly affects families, influencing the mental well-being of parents as well as the well-being of children. Lebanon, characterized by decades of war, is still reeling from long-term trauma, with the 2024 Israeli conflict further worsening it and displacing 1.2 million individuals. Parental distress, including anxiety, stress, and depression, fueled by war-induced uncertainty, has a direct impact on the emotional and cognitive development of children.
Research identifies the relationship between parental distress and heightened anxiety, school problems, and behavior problems in children. Stigmatization of mental illness and limited access to treatment worsen the issue. The impact of war on family mental health and the need for interventions to help affected parents and children are highlighted in this article.
