Symbolic Violence in Political Discourse after the Arab Spring:
A Sociological Reading in Light of Pierre Bourdieu’s Theory

المستخلص - Abstract

عقب التحوّلات العميقة التي حملها "الربيع العربي"، برز الخطاب السياسي بصفته آليّة استراتيجيّة لتشكيل المشروعيّة أو تقويضها، إذ توظّف نخبة تراكيب لغوية محمّلة بآليات "العنف الرمزي" بحسب رؤية عالم الاجتماع الفرنسي بيير بورديو، من خلال ممارسة ترمي إلى ترسيخ الهيمنة الرمزية، وتأبيد مواقع القوى أو زعزعتها.

يرتكز هذا البحث على مفاهيم الحقل السياسي، والرأسمال الرمزي، والهيمنة الرمزية ليكشف، عبر تحليلٍ نقديٍ متكامل لخطابي: الرئيس اللبناني السابق ميشال عون إثر انتفاضة 17 تشرين الأول/أكتوبر 2019، وخطاب الرئيس المصري السابق محمد مرسي في حفل تنصيبه 2012، فيعالج آليات العنف الرمزي في الخطاب العربي ما بعد 2011، ومقاربته من منظور بورديوي موحّد، مع تقييم دقيق لفاعلية هذه التراكيب اللغوية في إنتاج المشروعية، أو نسفها في لحظات التحول المفصلية.

- Abstract: Following the profound transformations ushered in by the “Arab Spring”, political discourse emerged as a strategic mechanism for either constructing or deconstructing legitimacy. Political elites began employing linguistically charged structures that embody mechanisms of symbolic violence, as theorized by Pierre Bourdieu, in efforts to consolidate symbolic domination and perpetuate - or destabilize - existing power structures.

This study draws upon the key Bourdieuian concepts of the political field, symbolic capital, and symbolic domination to offer a comprehensive critical analysis of two significant political speeches: President Michel Aoun’s address following the October 2019 uprising in Lebanon, and President Mohamed Morsi’s inauguration speech in 2012. The research examines how mechanisms of symbolic violence are deployed in post-2011 Arab political discourse, assessing the effectiveness of such linguistic structures in producing or dismantling legitimacy during pivotal moments of political transition.
